what are some good private/lac schools in california?

stanford
usc
pomona
CMC
pepperdine (yuck christian school)

any other notable schools in cali?

edit:

shoot i forgot to mention oregon and washington schools also, so if you guys could say some of those that would be nice too.

the other colleges next to CMC,

Occidental near LA. Private+LAC, so I bet you'll like it :).

Reed in Portland. Very quirky and self-selecting, but if you like it, there's no other place like home.

Harvey Mudd
Pomona

To name a few: Whitman (Washington), Willamette (Oregon), Claremont Consortium in CA (CMC, Pomona, Scripps, Pitzer, Harvey Mudd), Lewis & Clark (Oregon)

Caltech meh

The Claremont schools mentioned above
University of Puget Sound (in Washington)
Lewis and Clark
Reed
Walla Walla University

Mills
St. Mary's
University of SF
Santa Clara University
Chapman
University of san diego
Loyola Marymount
Whittier

Do you want good LACs or great LACs?

Great:
Harvey Mudd College
Pomona College

Good-Great:
Claremont McKenna College
Scripps College
Pitzer College

of course, those are all Claremont Colleges...

Just to clarify from above....Mills is a womens college outside of Oakland, CA. It has a very fine reputation but not sure if OP is a female or male.

Any particular field of study Chaserz?

i am thinking along the lines of business.

oh im a guy by the way haha.

well, if you're going by US News rankings (which, I admit, are flawed) The best LACs in Cali go in this order

Pomona (#7)

Claremont McKenna (#11)

Harvey Mudd (excellent, and comparable to any top engineering school in academic rigor, they're just extremely specialized so they take a hit in the rankings) (#14)

Scripps College (#28)

Occidential (#36)

Whitman (#37)

Pitzer (#49)

I'm not as familiar with smaller and lesser-known schools, but all of the above are great choices.

Whitman is in Washington.

Up north there is also Lewis and Clarke (Or), Reed (Or), Willamette (Wash), University of Puget Sound (Wash), Gonzaga (Wash) ...

Oops. Thanks, MQD. I was thinking of Whittier.

Try californiacolleges.edu

AOK ... poster did indicate an interest in the north country as well ... so I thought I would clarify ...but still big in the Claremonts!
