Good Psychology Schools for Mediocre Applicants?

My apologies, I had no clue where to put this post.

Obviously, schools like Stanford and Ivy Leagues are on top of the list of Excellent Psychology Programs. However, my stats aren’t spectacular (30 ACT, 3.7 GPA) and I’m not sure our family could afford a school like that.

I’m looking for schools in the Northeast (although I will go almost anywhere within a 2 day drive of Northeast Ohio) in big cities. Any suggestions?

A number of big 10 public schools have outstanding psychology programs and are a lot easier to get into than Ivies. Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota come to mind. Many families will pay more at Wisconsin or Illinois than at Ivies, but Minnesota is pretty affordable out of state.

I take it that you don’t want to stay in state and go to OSU, which is also very good in this field and a bargain for in-staters.

Thank you @Hanna :slight_smile: Minnesota is already on my list (good to know it’s a good choice!), but I will definitely look into the others.

First you are not a mediocre applicant. Not at all. 30 ACT is the 95th percentile.

I would highly recommend Lehigh, Bucknell, St. Lawrence, Lafayette, Muhlenberg, Gettysburg, Villanova, Dickinson, Clark, Connecticut College and Loyola Maryland.

@BatesParents2019 Thank you :slight_smile: I appreciate it!

@dragonfly26 please do the financial aid calculators for those schools. You have Miami of Ohio right? You live in Ohio?

@BatesParents2019 We do - I actually sent my first ACT score there :slight_smile:
