I have a Model UN conference in a few weeks and I'm on the delegation from Somalia. I've had trouble finding really good data on government policies and such things. For those of you who do Model UN, what do you do to prepare?

Prepare for Model UN? What’s that? LOL, kidding - I actually prepare quite a lot for MUN conferences – typically what I do is I go to different academic think tanks and read through the articles posted that have something to do with the issue that the conference is on; rather than do research on my country. Aside from knowing the basics of your delegation, like simple demographics and their stance on the one issue you’re debating, you should really be trying to do research on the topic itself. For instance - at my last conference, I was China in the UNSC for Nuclear Proliferation in DPRK. Instead of doing research on China - I just focused on doing research on North Korea and Nuclear Proliferation which was of much greater help because everyone will be talking about the issue, no one is really going to be focused on the nitty gritty of your state.

I do MUN a good bit. I’m representing Norway this year and have a Norway bow tie haha my partner and i are thinking of getting business cards for it too. We’re looking to get best delegation (got it last year). Think the business cards are a good idea?

That would be clever. It would let the other delegates know that you are serious.
