Good safety schools for International Relations?

I'm a prospective International Relations/Politics(and maybe business) major, and am aspiring to go to JHU, Georgetown, some lower-tier ivies like Cornell and UPenn as well as LSE and Oxford abroad. But I am in need of some good safety universities.

Considering one has 2000-2100+ SATs and a 3.7+ GPA, would a school like American University basically be granted for that person? Or is it more of a "low match"?

How about George Washington University? And New York University?

I really can't get a sense of how selective these schools are, as an International applicant, so all help is appreciated. Also, please suggest more respected safety schools for me if you know of any :)

I know ECs count as well, but I really am too lazy to list them all out. They include lots of community service abroad, teaching disabled children to read, landslide relief in developing countries, debating awards, mun conferences, international award, student government etc etc.

Boston University, The Jackson School at U Washington, Macalester

For you dubyawhy, you can take them all as granted. Being an international is also a great hook.

Well with some more stats I could help you out you aren’t giving us much to go with but if you’re considering JHU and Georgetwon I would definitely add Tufts there. As for safeties I would say American, GWU, BU, maybe some LACs… however again without stats cant say much!

If you are full-pay, you can look at schools that are need aware. Sometimes, being full-pay gives you a bump at that type of school. I don’t know if there is a list of such schools, but you can always ask the admissions office of any school you are interested in. American is definitely a match, not sure about a safety.

American is probably a low match, perhaps a safety.

GW and NYU are matches, but definitely not safeties. I know a kid with similar stats who was waitlisted at GW but accepted at NYU.

Syracuse is another school to consider, as a low match or safety.

You may want to search for some EA schools. An EA acceptance in hand is the best kind of safety.

for a real safety, consider arcadia university in philadelphia. very friendly, very easy application, great financial aid (1400 r+m usually equals full tuition), and they have a pretty big international/international relations program, i think.
