I’m a female currently living in Northern Virginia, and I’ll be a senior this coming school year. My unweighted GPA is a 4.0 and my weighted GPA as of this school year is about a 4.4. By the end of junior year I will have taken 5 AP classes and I’m taking 5 more my senior year. My SAT is a 1540 (770 each category) with a 23/24 in writing. side note-I’ve taken the SAT twice and got a 1490 my first time, should I take it again? Is it worth taking the ACT in September? I’m in multiple honor societies, I did play a sport competitively up until this year, I tutor in math and chem weekly, and I do volunteer work on a regular basis, with the most prominent being at a center for children with mental disabilities. I’m considering majoring in biomedical engineering or something along those lines, or possibly econ or something else math-related. I have good ideas of target and reach schools, but am having difficulty choosing safety schools. I know that I will most likely apply to Virginia Tech as a safety, but need more suggestions. Thanks!

University of Alabama would be a financial safety. I don’t know enough about the admissions rates for your areas to know if it would be an academic safety for you but at worse it would be a solid match.
Although you wouldn’t qualify for in-state tuition at Temple, you could probably get a generous merit scholarship. Philadelphia is a world-renowned center for medicine.
