Hi everyone, so I've been visiting colleges this summer and I've been wondering about a safety school that would be good for me to apply to. I'm not sure where to start with this process since I've fallen in love with the 5 schools I've been to this summer. If anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate it!
I've visited:
Wake forest University
College of William and Mary
Lafayette college
Lehigh university
University of Richmond

I have a 4.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
Im in the top 5% of my class
I have been and will be taking all ap/ib classes
I have sat score of 1900 overall
And 1300 CR&Math
ACT score: 32
I am involved in many extracurriculars such as National honors society, captain of varsity cheerleading team, and Spanish club, just to name a few.

I would like the school to be in Pennsylvania, Virginia or North Carolina and be private.

Thanks for any suggestions! I'm lost and I really appreciate it:)

Why private? William and Mary is a public school. A good Safety is Penn State if you live in Pennsylvania. If not then look into NC State in NC if that would be instate. Elon could be a safety.

You did better on the ACT than the SAT. You can probably bump either of those scores up and get into some merit at your safety school. Your state flagship might be your cheapest option, so you need to tell us where you have residency. I point these things out because a safety school must be absolutely affordable.

Can your parents afford to send you to the schools you’ve named? have you asked them? have you run the net price calculators there? It’s hard to suggest safeties without knowing what you can afford.

If you’re interested in small colleges, Guilford (Greensboro, NC) would be a safety for you, and you would probably get a substantial merit scholarship.

Thanks for your response! I live in New York, but I don’t want to attend a university in New York because I would like to get farther from home. This is why I said private because I could probably get a better financial aid package there. As for cost, William & Mary would be the only stretch money wise because of the out-of-state tuition and not many merit based scholarships, especially with my SAT/ACT scores. I would like to major in Chemistry.

Muhlenberg (PA) might be an option (same general location as Lafayette/Lehigh). I"d also look for at least one rolling or non binding EA safety school so you know you are in by the end of December.
