Good schedule for Haas?

Is this a good freshman first semester schedule for Haas?

Statistics 21
Economics 001
Math 1A
College Writing R1A

if you can keep up your grades, why not?

haas might let you get away with the 16 series iirc

They do. But if you only wanna do one sem of math, do 1A.

why is 1a a better choice for one semester?

I want to be on track for Haas but at the same time I don't want to overburden myself.

Is this a better schedule?

Math 16A
Statistics 21
English R001A
Econ 001

Have you looked at the descriptor of the section for R1A you are entering? Be sure it's something that interests you and are not just taking it to knock off a requirement.

Classes you hate are the biggest time sucks because you tend to wander and dither through the work. Math 16A is pretty easy, but the curve can be absolutely and completely RIDICULOUS, at least when I took it. I'd say go with 1A, if you don't want to take anymore math after that, you are pretty much set for Haas and since it is more "difficult", the curves won't be as steep.

You pretty much had to do perfect on everything (except the final, but you had to get like 97/100 to get an A- on that) to get an A when I took 16A.

...and always go to class. I cannot stress this enough. You save yourself time if you go to class. Less time you have to spend reading or studying.

i dont know.. when i went to calso i was trying to decide between 16A or 1A.. and the problem with 1A is that your also competing with all the hardcore engineering people in those classes.. soo it'll be pretty tough to get an A in those classes too esp with the harder material

everyone i talked to there recommended me to take 16A

do what Im doing and just take calc over the summer at a JC....its WAYYY easier, and because we havent officially "enrolled" yet- they accept the grade!

Hm... well you're satisfying a lot of Haas requirements - so it's good in that sense. Here's what I say about the classes:

Stat 21 blows - all the professors are horrible. Even tho the material is easy, the prof really confused me. I found it helpful to zone out during lecture and as my GSI questions whenever I had problems.

Econ 1 - you'll have Prof Olney in Fall 05. I had the same prof too. She's really cool and teaches well for those with minimal econ knowledge. Don't skip lectures, it's worth it to attend.

English R1A - good if you have a small English class. I've always found peer editing to be helpful.

Math 1A - didn't take it. But it's better to start with 1A than 1B.

Enjoy!
