Good schools for cog sci or neuroscience?

What are some good reaches/matches/safeties for me that have good cog sci programs?

30 ACT
3.8 UW GPA
have taken all honors offered at school and will take 6 APs by end of year
Got 4 on AP test I took last year

As for colleges I’m interested in, anything but a small school. Like medium and up, but even medium makes me a little itchy. I’d like to steer towards states that are a little more progressive. And I hate any weather that is similar to Florida’s (humidity!!!) Also I’d like to find some good research schools, but I’m trying to steer clear of a cutthroat environment.

Don’t ask about money. I’m fully aware of how much college costs…especially the good schools. Please don’t take it into your consideration.

Did I miss anything? Thanks for the help guys

oh and I’m a rising senior

Safeties:

  • University of Pittsburgh (around 28,000 students)

Matches:

  • University of Rochester (around 11,000 students)
  • Boston University (around 32,000 students) and located in Boston so easy access to the city and all the opportunities available in Boston
  • Renesselaer Institute of Technology (around 7,000 students)

Reaches:

  • Tufts University (around 11,000 students) and located in the suburbs of Boston
  • University of California Berkeley (around 36,000 students)

Thanks

^^ Rensselaer Institute of Technology?

@Shortstack17: Unless you find you truly want a huge university, try the University of Rochester or Case Western Reserve for rough matches.

I’ll second (or third) U Rochester. My middle son will be a senior with one of his majors being Brain and Cognitive Studies. He’s currently just over half way through a paid summer research internship at Stanford. Only 13 of roughly 240 applications got accepted.

I asked him which other schools were represented and Michigan, Wisconsin, Yale (2), Brown, UCSD (2), Berkeley, WUSTL, Wellesley, Claremont-McKenna, and of course, Stanford (+ U Rochester) were mentioned, so those are others that can be considered IF you want what they consider top schools for their internships (this year). Had he done a different internship (he had options, but that was his favorite), the schools could easily have varied some - as they might have in a different year, so it’s not a conclusive list at all - just a list.

I’m guessing @Nattybow2015 meant Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute or Rochester Institute of Tech. Based on the given size, probably the former, though RIT is a good tech school as well.

I would add Northeastern in the match to low reach category.

So sorry about the typo. I was referring to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Once again sorry for any confusion.
