good schools for communications in new england area

what are some good colleges for a communications undergrad major in relatively close proximity around or in CT?? :) thanks in advance!

oh! and no Ivy schools please. thanks!

Syracuse has a top journalism school; usually communications goes hand in hand with that.

Syracuse!! they have Newhouse which is a top communications school, but its hard to get into

yeah i’ve heard that! Syracuse is such a good school! my only hesitation is that it is 5 hours away from my home in CT and that’s too far to be able to come home sometimes.

I would guess BU and Emerson

Syracuse, BU, Emerson, Ithaca, Quinnipiac

Quinnipiac is in CT, but maybe it’s too close for you…also look into Clark Univ. in Worcester.
Have you asked your guidance counselor for suggestions?

I haven’t yet. We have junior meetings in the spring, so for now I am doing it on my own. I absolutely love Quinnipiac! It’s 25 minutes away from home, though. I actually like that it is so close, but my parents are having a hard time justifying paying 12,000 (or whatever it is) to live practically “next door”. I do love it though. Also, I’m in the top 10 % of my class and would like to go some place where I can get top merit scholarship. Just putting that out there.

Quinnipiac is “known” for a strong communications dept. Or if you want a bit further, then look into Clark Univ. in Worcester. We know kids at both colleges and all seem happy. You will have the college experience whether you are next door or 3 hours away as long as you’re on campus. Your parent’s will enjoy having you so close, believe me. Maybe you’ll get merit scholarships there and then they won’t mind that they’re paying x amount of $$.

Emerson & BU are both smack in the middle of Boston with no green grass. Some people love it, though, just depends on what you want.

Ithaca & Syracuse are further away…but their communications depts. are top too.

I’m sure there are many other choices, I’ll have to think. Maybe Brandeis? That would be harder to get into but I have no idea how merit scholarships would work there…

Look on-line and see what else you can find…I’ve heard great things about Fairfield Univ. or Conn. College but don’t know anything about their Communications Depts. There must be a way to google colleges in Southern New England/New York, maybe, that would fit into your criteria. Maybe Skidmore? Or LAC’s? Good luck!
