Where have you applied? Are you a Junior or Senior?

junior. the stats listed above is the worse possible scenario. ,

Your SAT is very competitive but until you complete your Junior year and have all your final grades, calculating your UC GPA is not meaningful at this point.

The obvious choices would be UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCI, UCSB. Cal Poly SLO and UCD. UCLA/UCB should be considered Reach schools regardless of your stats.

For example: UCLA CS ADMIT RATE 2018: The admit rate for CS for the fall of 2018 is 8.2%. The average CS act score is a 35 and the SAT is a 1550 average.

Many of your college choices will be based on your college budget and you preferences.

  1. What is your budget/year?
  2. Are you looking for merit based aid and/or need-based aid?
  3. Geographical preferences? In-state or out of state?
  4. Private vs. Public universities? Large, Medium or Small # of students? Urban/Suburban/Rural? Greek life/Sports?
  5. Identify at least 2 safety schools that you are willing to attend no matter what, where you are assured an acceptance and are affordable. Next find 4-5 Match schools which would be several of the UC’s mentioned. After that, you can aim for the stars with some Reach schools.

For other California schools I would also suggest USC, Santa Clara and for the Super Reach Stanford…

Continue doing your best and what you love. At the end of Junior year, come back with you finalized stats and complete profile.

Best of luck.

why? it is already the end of the first semester. i am fully aware of the diffculty of the classes and the grades i will be what i will get second semester

If you are confident that your grades will remain the same, then I would say that UCI/UCSB and UCD would be good Match schools. SCU/UCB/UCLA/USC/Stanford would be Reach to High Reach. UCSD/SLO would be a High Match schools.

So do you have answers to my other questions so other CC posters can make some good suggestions? Your UW GPA will make it a difficult admit for some of the very top schools.

Have you research any schools and have you come up with a possible list yet? Really does not matter what others think since fit is a very individualized aspect in picking a list of schools in which you will apply. This includes academics, social life and financial considerations.
