good science programs- northeast

i'm a jr looking to get seriously started on my college search. i'm trying to look for schools with good science programs, namely biology (trying to get into dental school).

size: not too big, not too small. around 2000-8000
location: not too far away from home. as north as Massachusetts, south as maryland/northern va, not really looking to go west.
setting: not really a big issue, just has to be within reach of something to do if i wanna leave campus
other: religion isn't a major player, but if its roman-catholic affiliated, its always a plus.
also, not really into the cutthroat atmoshpere.
