Good Summer Programs for High School Students

hello, i am a current sophomore in high school who is looking for a summer program to apply and attend this summer. i live on the east coast, so any school basically on the east coast is good. i am looking for something prestigious that will challenge me and look good on a college application. i scored a 2200 on the SAT as a freshman and will be taking the PSAT on the 13th and will be most likely getting >230. i have gotten the highest grades possible in the hardest classes available at my school, have plenty of extracurriculars, etc. what are some good summer programs you guys have experience with? like i said, im not looking for something expensive at a good school that will let everyone who wants to pay go. i am willing to pay, but it has to be worth the money. i am located in new jersey, so schools like princeton, penn, yale, columbia, etc. are all pretty close. let me know if you guys have any suggestions for ones to apply to
thanks!

Check out TASP. I heard it’s really good (and free).

sandwichgirl: i was looking for a while and found it hard to distinguish between the good and the bad

xrCalico: thanks, i don’t think i’d be able to attend TASP because im only a sophomore.

any other ideas?

Can you find any summer programs that are free for High school freshmen.

There was a thread on here that listed an array of summer programs, but I can’t seem to find it.

im a 10th grader will high school always be this crazy

high school is a crazy gigg to play

TASP is good, SSP is as well. Lot of the programs are for advanced math/comp/sci students, but there are some for humanities & business, I can’t remember the names though. Generally, ones that give you stipends or low pay are often prestigious, not ones that are mostly in it for the money. Things like the Harvard summer school are excessively expensive and don’t look good at all on apps

thanks for the advice guys! i know a lot of them are mostly just expensive and aren’t very prestigious and are open for those who pay. are there any others that are good but open to sophomore? i know rsi and tasp are for juniors only

JSA Summer School? Governor’s School of New Jersey?

Sleeping in is one of the best summer activities for a high schooler.

I doubt you’re from South Carolina… but if you are… there’s SCGSSM… They have some really cool classes that are relatively cheap and it can’t hurt you. =) Oh… and they have scholarships.

They might let out-of-state people go. I don’t know though. I’m doubtful. But if anyone from SC is reading it… check it out for rising 8th, 9th, and 10th grade students. =) [11th/12th grade students can’t go.]

Oh and that’s the plus… 10th grade kids get perks for being the oldest ones there…
