Good test prep book for the ACT?

What would yall recommend? Ive been through the sparknotes book and I guess it was ok.

The Real ACT and Princeton Review are pretty good. The "review"/info/pointers on the Real ACT wasn't that good, but the tests were. PR had a pretty through review on each section and quite a few pointer.

Barron's ACT is good, too.

I really wouldn't advise Barron its boring and dry. Its also horrible with the grammar section. Also I would advise that you base it upon which section u need work on but Princeton Review is overall pretty good.

I guess it's not the same for all of us, then.

Barron increased my overall composite by 2 points.

I'll check PR out some time, though.

I also think Barron's is pretty useless. Their sections are way harder than anything you will see (especially Math and English) and they drill you on absolutely unnecessary concepts such as series and sequences.

I liked Princeton Review for reviewing concepts and Real ACT for the tests. Kaplan isn't half bad either.

princeton review ftw

^ i agree, Princeton is a pretty good review

do the real act practice tests, sparknotes practice tests, and princeton review practice tests

I love the princeton review book. I used the '07 edition, and it was <3

totally helped me understand geometry over again.

i love pr.

got me a 31 as a freshman, 36 as a sophomore with maybe 20 hrs total of studying.

if that book was a person, i would marry it. :D

sophomore 36.... srry to say this but... i hate you...

Where can I find the Sparknotes practice tests? Ty

sparknotes.com under test prep and act... you gotta pay for it though. I think it was 20 bucks or 10 bucks ... i forgot.

IMO, you should use PR for English, Math, and Science; however, don't use PR for reading (terrible strategies). I recommend using Sparknotes for the Reading section. The Real ACT book is a must-have also (though the tips suck).

So it's a consensus - PR for (most) concepts/review, Real ACT for practice tests?

Does the Real ACT book have curve charts?

yes that is what everybody here pretty much says.. and about the curve charts..they have whats called a score scale conversion chart which shows you what score(36,35,34 etc) you get for the number missed.

I assume by PR you guys were reffereing to Cracking the ACT. Any views on how good the Crash Course to the ACT is (by PR)?

i personally havent dealt with the Crash Course yet but im sure its a good review..

"I assume by PR you guys were reffereing to Cracking the ACT."

PR is Princeton review
