Hello,
I am a rising senior and was wondering when would be the best time to ask teachers for commonapp recommendation letters. I'm considering applying for early actions/decisions and certainly don't want everything to come down at the last minute. (I hate procrastinating.) At the same time, I don't want to alarm teachers by asking them way too early.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance. :)

After AP testing is finished and before the end of this semester, or early in the fall.

The best (maybe the only useful) advice my daughter ever got from her guidance counselor was to ask for recommendations after graduation but before the end of the school year for underclassmen.

Until graduation, teachers of seniors (and many people who teach juniors also teach seniors) will be busy with APs, then with senior final exams, then with senior grades, and then with graduation activities. After the seniors have finally left the building, you’ll become a much higher priority for your teachers, and they’ll have a lot more time for you.

I personally asked them at the end of the semester of junior year. Then i brought them the necessary information and envelopes in the fall.

Yes, definately before the end of the school year. Double check with each teacher to see if they will do it electronically (via the Common App) or “old school” with paper and envelopes…and if it’s the latter, get them the envelopes before the end of the year so they have a tangible reminder.
