Good Undergrad Business Schools That Are Too Expensive

Okay so I live in NY and I'm currently adding to my college list of schools that offer good undergrad business major (specifically in Accounting or Finance). Currently, I have UConn- UMass- UIUC- Rutgers- Bing- Baruch. I know some like Fordham, UMICH, Northeastern, and Babson, but they are quite expensive (about 39K plus housing and other stuff). Anyone here know of any good universities that have good business majors for undergrads? Thanks.

*Prefer schools that offer good financial aid and is not too expensive. TY.

bentley, good but don’t know if they have aid

OOS for UIUC is really expensive.

Will you qualify for FA? What is your EFC?

I’m still not sure, but I know I will qualify for FASFA for some schools because I’ve been getting these fee waivers and free lunch through out all 4 years of HS. Both parents also do not make too much. Just looking for a above average undergrad business school that will not bee too expensive. Thanks for the replies ^^ Any other colleges. I don’t know but I think Bentley is pretty expensive too.

[Alfred University - College of Business](http://business.alfred.edu/)

Alfred University (NY) Their Accounting Program gets very high marks from Fiske Guide.

Merit Aid, Need-Based Aid, Honors Program.

“Princeton Review Best 373”

Still under 40K I believe for College of Business (Private Program)

Syracuse University (Whitman school of management)
Good Financial Aid.

SU is over 50k/year & will not meet 100% of need. Few schools do!
I don’t like to say anything negative about SU as I am an alum, but I am secretly glad that none of my 4 children wanted to go there!

Check Carlson at U Minnesota:

[Carlson School of Management - University of Minnesota](http://www.csom.umn.edu/)

and possibly, Price at U Oklahoma:

SLUMOM, you don’t want to say anything bad but yet you did. Get real. And SU improved its financial aid ever since you graduated 300 years ago.

Alright thanks guys. Feel free to add more. Much appreciated.

With your fee waivers & free lunch program for all 4 years of high school, it sounds like you will have a very low EFC & therefore very high need. With a low EFC & high need, you should be very careful about what schools you apply to. There are other CC members who are very well versed in FA who will probably agree with me.

Example: If your EFC turns out to be $5,000 & school costs 50K, your financial need is going to be 45K. The school may offer you $5500 in Subsidized & Unsubsidized Stafford Loans from the government & a Work Study Job. If you take 45,000 & subtract 5500 in loans that leaves a balance of $39,500. Colleges don’t usually give out grant money from their coffers that would come close to $39,500. You will receive some grant money but it won’t make up the difference of $39,500, so you will have a gap, which the school may meet with more loans.

Binghamton may be the school that comes through for you & makes it affordable, as you are in-state. Just my opinion!

What are your stats?

You sound like you have high need, so you’ll have to choose your schools carefully. You’ll either need schools that “meet need” or schools that give huge merit for stats. Otherwise you could get gapped big time.

James Madison (VA) has a very good business school and is not as expensive as some of your other schools. Best of luck!

Your in-state flagship school is usually your best option. OOS is usually just as much as one of the elite privates.

The OP has Bing and Baruch which are in-state. UConn, UMass, UIUC, Rutgers should be very expensive.

OP, I see from another thread you have a 1950 SAT and an 87 UW GPA. Those may not get you into Bing. Do you have another SUNY you are considering?

[Alfred University : Financial Aid : Undergraduate Freshmen Scholarships](http://www.alfred.edu/finaid/freshmen/scholarships.cfm)

Possibly $12,000 or $14,000 in Merit Aid, depending on his stats.
Cost of Attendance for Business School is estimated to be around $37,000

^ Alfred again? Seriously?

How good are your stats? Can you get into the higher tiered schools that have more money to give?

As Erin’s Dad commented at post 16. My stats are average. Other SUNY being considered is Stony Brook but they don’t have Accounting so I may have to major in Finance or Economics.
