Good writing seminars

Anyone have experience with:

ENGL 170 Linked Stories
ENGL 168 Cultural Studies
BIOPL 150 Art of Science Writing
COM L 123 Fiction and Film in the 20th Century City
ENGL 185 Writing About Literature
GERST 109 The Romantic Consciousness

I think BIOPL 150 sounds the most interesting to me, but it's at a really bad time. The rest are from the only other time slot that works well for me, and I'm not as excited about those. Anyway, I was wondering if any of these classes are reputedly good/interesting/hard/a lot of work/stupid.

Also, if anyone's considering ENGL 187 Portraits of the Self, I'd recommend it. I'm taking it right now... I think it's a lot of work compared to some of the other seminars, but it has helped my writing a lot. The reading list IMO is also pretty good, and grading is pretty fair.

I think the writing seminars that have multiple sections (I know Linked Stories and Cultural Studies are two examples) are generally easier than more specific ones. But I also think that specific ones can be way more interesting. I honestly think Linked Stories would be easier than The Romantic Consciousness, but really, which one sounds cooler?

Took linked stories and a govt "power and politics" globalization writing seminar.. both were really good. I think german studies courses are generally hard for fws from what i hear.. a lot of abstract works that are hard to analyze.
