@VTCSSI I got into CSSI Seattle this year. SAT scores mean really nothing. It’s really about enthusiasm. Write good essays, and make your resume look good. If you are invited for an interview, show enthusiasm about computer science, even if you don’t have a lot of experience.

@samrod @Marinozai Thank you guys so much! Sorry for the late reply, though. It had been an intense week for me. Anyway, thank you for your replies, I appreciate them!

Hi! A question for those who got in - what minority groups are you a part of?
I’m interested in applying next year, and I know Google takes into account minority status, so I’m just curious haha. & as a side question, how heavily do you think academics are weighed in comparison to minority status and the essays? Thanks! Congrats to those who made it.

Although Google does take minority status into account, there isn’t any definite formula on how to weigh each part of the application. Google reviews every part holistically and then selects those who are the most promising. All parts are important, so all we can really tell you is to give every part your best effort.

I won’t provide any stats so that you don’t obsess over them, but I believe they also try to create well balanced groups. My stats are not particularly great, but I was very honest and myself during my essays and interview, so I think that helped a lot. Please please just write about yourself honestly and truly. Pretty sure they can tell the difference between the genuine and the fakers.
