Google Freshman Engineering Practicum

Hey Guys (and girls), so the freshman engineering practicum applications should be opening up today. I was hoping that this could be a thread where people who have previously participated could answer some of the questions that I (and surely others) have.

My questions:
How long did it take before you were "called back"?
What was the phone interview like?
What was the actual interview like?
Some things you wish you had known before you applied?
How Freakin cool is Google?

Thanks
-Varun

Where is the online application? It says it should open today but I don’t see it…

never mind, it’s up now!

They will tell you if you did our didn’t get in, right?

Also, what are other similar programs like this? I mean that accept freshmen interested in CS (even though they might have an undeclared major)?

Well, it’s been 16 days with no reply in either email, or on this thread for that matter. Does no one have information on this?

I just got an email saying they didn’t receive my transcript (lol), so I guess they’re in the process of reading applications.

I’m also interested in hearing what people have to say about the interview process, etc.

Has anybody heard back yet? If so, when did you submit your application?

I havent heard back… but i submitted my application last week…

btw- can you guys talk share a little bit about your programming experiences and background?

I just started programming since coming to college and i love it. But im not too confident that I can get this intern :(

I just started programming this year too. I’ve taken an intro class and some of the free Stanford courses online.

I don’t think that Google expects applicants to this program to have oodles of experience — that’s what their technical internships are for. Of course, that makes me wonder how they decide who to accept.

I just started programming and I am also taking free courses at coursera one from Stanford too!

Edit: Here’s a video about the FEP and some comments about the application process and programming experience

Has anyone heard back yet? I haven’t heard anything yet…

I was just talking to someone from Google at a career fair and they said we would probably here in a week or so.

So… Not yet? I’m sorry, but I am getting too nervous.
