if we get an interview… what do you think they’ll interview us about? i just started my first programming class this semester… so im practically clueless…

Was there a portion on the application where we were supposed to include the answers to the questions given on the website?

The questions were:
Please list the Computer Science-relevant courses that you are enrolled in for Spring 2013, What do you like about computer science (how would you use computer science to help solve a current world issue), How would you encourage a high school student to study computer science and anything else? (optional).

I don’t recall there being a portion to submit the answers.

Yes, there was an specific box with the label “Cover Letters”

Hi everyone, just wanted to give my input to put you all at ease. I sent my application within the first 24 hours of the page being open for submissions, and I haven’t received a response yet either. Like someone said above, it will likely be either sometime this week or next week.

As far as the content of the internship, it will likely focus on getting a generation of programmers to get used to how Google operates as a coding force - very open and collaborative. Practice makes permanent, and they want you to practice ‘perfectly.’

Best of luck to all of you.

Bumping with relevant e-mail:

“…everyone who applied will get an email letting them know what their status is in the next week. Students should check their spam box for an email from this alias (<a href="mailto:fep@google.com”>fep@google.com). Keep in mind that we are letting students know on a rolling basis therefore, not all decisions will come out at once."

Hmm, I haven’t gotten that email. Did you ask them for an update or something?

Hey guys, I applied a few weeks ago and just got an email last Friday from Google saying I was selected for interviews! On the email it says:

Please keep in mind that we will be notifying all applicants of their status during the coming weeks and most of our applicants have not heard from us yet.

So, the results will likely come within the next few weeks. As a side note, the email got sent to my spam so I didn’t see it until yesterday, so make sure to check your spam often in the next few weeks.

Hey Puriea Congratulations and thanks for your feedback.

Do you mind telling me your programming experience?

Thank you!

I’ve had about 3 semesters of Java experience (in high school + college). I did a hybrid math/cs research project back in high school, which used some C++. I took and am currently taking computer systems courses, so I am familiar with C as well. I’m also currently working a web-development part-time job on campus which uses HTML, CSS, javascript and python scripting.

All-in-all I guess I’ve had some experience in hardware and web development, but I’m still most familiar with software.

Puriea, when did you get the email confirming Google had received your resume? I got mine on January 17th and still have not heard anything.

I received my confirmation email on Jan 7th and have yet to hear back as well… They will let all of us know eventually.

does anyone know how competitive it is? (how many applicants & spots)

xxxhuihuixxx, i would like to know the same thing. haha. from a website, i saw that google was recruiting 150 people. but then, other people say 20. so i would really like to know as well.

Has anyone else gotten a response?

I just got an email saying I’ve not been selected. lol. :(

Sorry jake If you don’t mind me asking, when did you apply?

Do you remember when you applied?

I applied in mid January and got an email in late January saying they didn’t have my transcript. I sent it in around Feb. 1 (they confirmed that it went through) so presumably they read my app between then and today.

Good luck to everyone who has applied. My daughter applied last year. As I recall, she had a phone interview in late February. She passed the interview and coding test. Unfortunately, they were unable to find a mentor for her so they didn’t extend an offer to her. She didn’t hear their final decision until April. However, the entire process of applying and interviewing was a great learning experience for her.

Has anybody else heard back from Google?

Good Luck!
