Google Freshman Engineering Practicum

Not yet…

Man, every day feels like a year :(

I haven’t heard anything personally. A couple of my friends heard back last Thursday and didn’t get it.

when did you guys apply? I turned mine in a couple hours before the deadline :P

I applied within the first 7 hours of it posting and am still waiting. None of my friends have heard back yet either.

I applied the 26th of January and I haven’t heard anything back yet.

I applied like a week before the deadline but still no dice. My friends who heard back applied within a week of the deadline so I’m not sure how the process works hahah.

I sent an email asking them if all the accepted applicants have been contacted and this is their answer:
"Hello,

Yes, all applicants will be contact by Monday. (they made a typo :stuck_out_tongue: )

Thanks,

FEP Team"

I am not if by YES he meant all the accepted people got contacted or that everyone will hear from them by Monday?
I had a couple of friends rejected but I still haven’t heard anything.
Good luck

Don’t worry if you don’t get in. I personally know a guy with godly programming skills who got rejected. It’s really a lottery - not to mention the preference for women and minorities.

Officially rejected…
I was kinda expecting it.
Good luck!

I just received an email saying that I didn’t get it, I hope you guys have better luck than me.

Well damn, It’s a no go for me too guys. For those who do get accepted can you please give us some info on your experience and skills? It’d be very helpful.

Yes, it’d be nice if you share your skills with us

Question for those of you who have already been rejected. Did you have a phone interview or were you rejected right off the bat? Are any of you women or minorities?

Has anyone heard back from the program after phone interviews?

I was accepted to the program a few months ago–as for my experience, I think what helped me the most was taking on side projects and programming competitions (online and local ones). Also, the coding interview was super easy for me because I practiced a lot on 4+ companies in the past fall, so I was prepared. (Note: always talk to everyone you can at job fairs and get as many interviews as you can even if you don’t want to work there. It’s great practice.) Other than that, I also took a bunch of advanced CS/math courses early on, so I’m sure that helped.

Good luck for everyone applying at google. You really should know that to have a chance you more or less need to be a supergenius, the only person I know who interned there had a 4.0. There are tons of folks who want to move to CA and get those great benefits as well as “prestige” and the applicant pool is very large.
