<p>It sucks.</p>
<p>I transferred to a new college 500 miles away from home (as a Junior) and it's hard to make friends since everybody now has their cliques and history; so it's hard to fit in.</p>
<p>I've never been the type dependent on friends but I would at least like a few. Since just about EVERYBODY goes to the dining halls with friends and eats with somebody and I feel like I stand out getting food alone. So far, i've made ONE study buddy and had some conversations pretending to be lost on campus (so I can ask somebody for directions and have something to build a conversation off of).</p>
<p>And i'm a guy and I have very different interests from most guys my age so it's extremely hard to connect/identify. I try to keep an open mind but if I don't like something then I can't get myself to like it.</p>
<p>So what tips do you have to make more friends being the "new kid"?</p>
