My goal for SAT/ACT is 2300/35. I got 2230 one sitting in I think November of last year. I got busy with school and was too lazy to retake the SAT and add to superscore. To get my 2230, I had to prepare for I think 4ish months doing a ridiculous amount of practice tests. My first diagnostic score was 1760 so it took a bit of effort to improve by nearly 500 points. I don’t want to take the SAT anymore because I’m so sick of the test after the insane amount of practice tests I did for it. And its been 6 months since I even looked at anything SAT related… I just want to move on from it. So I signed up for the ACT on June 13 lol. I want to see if I can get a 35. Does anyone have any recommendations for someone in my situation for the most strategic way of improving ACT score in a short amount of time? (getting from say 33/34 to 35) I haven’t taken a practice test yet so I don’t actually know my real ACT score. For now I’m just assuming it’s 33-34 since that is what 2230 converts to on online concordance charts. I’m starting practice tests next Saturday because I’m in the middle of APs right now.
It depends on which section you need to improve on. All you can really do is just do practice tests and make sure you have all your basics down. You might test better on the ACT as the science section is more orientated towards people who do sciences. See how you go in your practice tests first.
@goodone The ACT may be a better test for you.
The best way to study for the ACT is to practice with REAL ACT tests. There are 5 tests in the Red ACT Book, 3rd Edition. They are old, but can help you practice the basic concepts. ACT released several tests in booklet form, use them next.
Time each practice session to simulate the real test.
English 75 questions in 45 min.
Math 60 questions in 60 min.
Reading 40 questions in 35 min.
Science 40 questions in 35 min
Score your test and review only what you got wrong after each practice session.
I suggest the following schedule:
Take 1 section each school night/with review for 4 nights/week.
Twice per month on a Saturday or Sunday take a full ACT test/with review.
In 4 weeks you will have completed 8 practice tests.
