Got a 22% on the SSAT???

I got my results back from the SSAT in early November and I was really surprised to see them. I mean I’m a good student 1st Honors, A average. But I got a 22% Percentile total on it!

Percentiles
Verbal: 18
Quantitative: 36
Reading: 22
Total Percentile 22

(Total Score: 1863)

I’m going to retake them in December and hopefully I do good and don’t have to retake them in Jan. Because I know the admission office looks at how many time you take them.
My dad signed me up for tutoring so I hope that will help… And I’m applying to Hotchkiss and Choate! Can you guys give me advice?
Thank you in advance!

Just checking - did you mark the grade you are applying for rather than the grade you are in? I read it happens on occasion.

I put what grade I’m in (which is 8th).

AppleApple you might consider some other schools as backup. 1863 would do no good, as Choate + Hotchkiss have an average of 2180 - 2190 (80 - 85 ish percentile)? I took the test and I’m in Grade 9, and scored a 2181 (82 percentile). I don’t think that Lawrenceville or Deerfield would consider me, even though I have strong ECs.

Good luck with your December testing! In addition, tutoring will help a lot. You’ll get at least 700 for verbal (50 ish) if you go memorize the 1000 words (however a range of 5000 words are needed as some really random words appear).
