I took calculus my junior year and i got a 5 on BC and a 5 on the AB subscore. I didn't take any math my senior year and I feel I've forgotten alot of the stuff.

I know with my scores I can get credit for 31A and 31B, and that they won't even let you take 31A. I am not very confident in my knowledge of calculus but know that as an engineering major it's hard to graduate in 4 years. Should I take 31B or 32A? What topics do 31A and 32B cover? I'm really worried I'm gonna miss out on some fundamentals. If I study from a book over the summer should I be able to thoroughly cover the content of these classes?

if you choose 32a, youre going to need to study for at least 20hrs a week over summer to refresh everything before you take it in the fall. if possible, try 40.

lol not really

you’ll be fine in 32A if you remember how to take derivatives

How did you get a 5 then? In my opinion, review a little of the summer but not exceeding 50 hours. Definitely know how to take integrals and differentiate simple functions. Review how to integrate by Parts at the least for integrations.

If you completely forgot how to differentiate, you will have a hard time in Diffy Q and Multivariable Calculus. Hopefully when you review, the concepts will come back to you.

I’m actually SO GLAD I did NOT take 31B because series and sequences in college is so much more difficult than in high school, and I did not need it for 32A or even 32B.

I can’t say if 31B was hard, but I couldn’t help my friends in 31B because in high school when we learned Taylor and McLaurin series, I had a bad case of senioritis and only did enough to pass through the part.

I don’t recommend going back in math series if you’ve already earned credit for particular classes because you’re just wasting your time, and you only need to know the basics of the class’s prereqs.
