Got accepted ED as Non-FA Candidate, Can I apply for FA now?

I finally realized that I might have gotten a good amount of aid from Penn had I applied for need-based Financial Aid. My parents initially told me that we have way too much in assets but they did not know that assets are not taken into account nearly as much as income.

I'm not an international, so the policy is still need-blind. Meaning applying for FA does not affect my admission decision.

So would it be worth calling the FA office at Penn to convince them to allow me to apply for FA now(All the RD applicants have not applied yet anyway)? Or should I just wait till sophomore year and then apply?

You need to call the school and ask. We don’t know your school’s policy regarding FA. don’t you have to accept your ED offer pretty soon?

BTW…I don’t know if you can tell how much a CSS school is going to count assets. CSS formula doesn’t use the FAFSA formula that is better at protecting assets.

You should call and ask whether they’ll accept a financial aid application from you. They may not since the deadline for FA apps for ED admits has passed. Or they may say yes. You know, there’s no way anyone here can tell you. Just call them tomorrow and ask.
