My familys expected contripution is like 44k a year. i really dont see how my family could pay that. My mom is a elementry school teacher and my dad is civil service. each make ~50k a year. How can i pay for this?

Try applying for some student loans perhaps?

Negotiate with the financial aid office. Explain your situation. 44K a year is ridiculous. That's basically no financial aid, right?

yea, call them and try to re-evaluate your offer, our lady said that if we noticed any problems to let her know - how do you have all your fin aid stuff already?

this was the value given to us by FASFA. I am assuming that this would be near the value that Wash U gives us becuase they use the FASFA

with blood! mwahaaahahahahhahahhaa!

lol nobu you vampire, you

I suggest that you post this thread in the parents forum. You will get a lot more responses. You fall exactly into the "too poor yet too rich" category.

Yeah, talk to WUSTL about your situation. They may throw in some partial tuition scholarship, if they really want you. Or perhaps WUSTL is just not for you.

send in the thing that ur not going there so one of us on the waitlist can get in... ;-)

ive heard bad things about washu finaid....but im not too sure, just saying....

Ah, you are slightly confused. I have good news for you.

The EFC calculated on the FAFSA is not the EFC used by private institutions. It is only used by public colleges. Private colleges use the data on the FAFSA, but calculate the EFC as they see fit.

You will likely get more financial aid than the federal formula suggests. Just wait for your award letter.

I'm having kind of the same problem. I don't know how much financial aid I'm getting, but mom pretty much said that she wouldn't send me there unless I got a scholarship and/or got into the USP program...which I didn't. Phooey. I SO hope she still lets me goo....Wash U rocks!

Speaking of awards letters, when should we expect them? My letter says "in a few days," but I'm anxious.

wait you realize this AFTER you got accepted, dont you get to know your family's EFC like in jnaury/feb?

If you did posting this now is pretty foolish, 48000 is a lot of money.

nomad what do you expet me to do? wonder how i am going to afford to go to a college before i am accepted? Tell me what you think i should have done.
