Got accepted; what is "Summer offer"?

I want to start in the Fall 2011 term, and on the acceptance quick view I have...
Term: Fall 2011
Program: BS in Computer Sci
Major: Computer Science
Acceptance: Accepted-Summer Session

Am I required to start in the Summer?

Yeah, I vbeliebe so. I think you can also choose to be on the waitlist at the same time

yeah, that’s the truf dogg

It may inconvenient, but starting in the Summer has its benefits. I received the same offer two years ago.

I am so grateful I got the summer offer, but it is not ideal for me. I have a few questions.

1.) Criteria for making this decision and why do they do it?
2.) What is my class schedule for the rest of the year?
-Do I have a full fall and winter semester?
-Do I have to to it next summer?
3.) Can i take them at UGA?
4.) Instead of taking classes this summer (2011), can i take them next summer (2012)
5.) Is there any way I can get wait-listed (I don’t want to do this if I lose my current acceptance), so I don’t have to enroll this summer?
6.) Required to live on campus?

No, you can’t take the classes in Summer 2012 or at UGA. You have to start this Summer.

A Summer Offer is extended to students who are borderline candidates for admission. The purpose is to allow the student to ease into school.

Is my semester schedule normal (my choice) after this?

Yes.

I choose to do summer and I feel that it was a good decision.

Summer gives you a head start - you meet people, get a few classes out of the way (limited course selection though) and get accustomed to the campus.

Alright i got it now. Thanks athlonx2, BanjoHitter, farmergregor, and cshumate! you guys are da best; i bow down to you all.

I applied for summer 2011 but I was waitlisted. So does that mean I was bumped to Fall 2011?

BanjoHitter, what is the difference between “summer offer” and “waitlist”?

Summer offer - You start in during the Summer semester as opposed to the Fall when a majority of applicants start…

Waitlist - You have not officially been accepted and you have not officially been rejected. Really it just means they are still debating if they should admit you to the school. You should receive an official answer on whether you were accepted or denied later in the year (I’m not sure when).
