First off, you should know I'm a 22 year old transfer student. I just got an email offer for a San Clemente 2 bedroom or 4 bedroom apartment. I'm tempted to take it because I wouldn't have to share a room like I am going to have to in Santa Ynez. Also it's a lot closer to campus then Santa Ynez. While I am not really into partying I am worried that I will not make very many friends and that it will be pretty boring with a bunch of graduate students if I live there. Any thoughts?

According to academic advisers, 25% UCSB students don’t party. Don’t worry, you’ll make lots of friends here. Just join some clubs and campus organizations.

I got the same offer and had the same concerns. I don’t think it would be too different socially, since most of the friends you will make will probably be from classes, clubs, jobs, etc. If you make the switch they’d probably stick you with other transfers anyway.

I would take the offer, but I don’t have the funds.

I hope others will, so I won’t have to worry about getting stuck with a third roommate at Santa Ynez.

So I took the offer and chose 4 bedrooms over 2 since its cheaper. The more I think about it the more excited I get. I was really worried about sharing a tiny little room with 1 or 2 other people. Hopefully you get a good roommate RRed.

I’m gonna be a 2nd year and I was dying to get a San Clemente apartment but they didn’t let me, not even for the summer… :'(

My EAP friends (juniors) were living in San Clemente last year, and the apartment was really nice. And they had a lot of people (both undergrad and grad students) comming over almost everyday even on no special occasions. I’ve seen quite a few parties in San Clemente though, but not sure if they were really much of the dancing/noisy kind of parties. I went there very often as I would suffocate if I stayed in my dorm room.

I heard they stopped offering guaranteed university-owned housing to EAP students this year, which really sucks.
