Got destroyed first quarter of Freshman year

So I just finished my first quarter of college. I tried pre-engineering but I'm switching to Economics. Got a 1.3 in Calc II, 1.5 in Chem I, 3.8 in Intro to Psych. I felt like I wasted my first quarter because:

1) Non of my classes are pre-reqs to get into the Economics Department
2) My GPA is screwed (and average admission to the Economics Department is 3.45, 81% acceptance rate though)

Made the mistake of taking the chem/calc combo. I jumped right into Calc II after getting a 3 on the AP exam and I topped that with the General Chem course. I bombed the first chem mid and did average in calc and then I did the complete opposite and bombed the second calc midterm and did average in the chem midterm. I just couldn't balance the two courses.

I really like Econ but my parents forced me to try Engineering. I just don't like science at all. I like/can handle lower level Calc and I felt that if I didn't take Chem I would have done MUCH better in Calc because I had a 2.8 after the first midterm and just fell off the cliff because I focused so hard to bring my chem grade up in expense of learning new Calc material. I tried so hard but then in the end I lost the fire because I could not study something that I was behind on and/or did not like.

Now what?

Thanks.

Relax during winter break. Relieve all the piled up stress. Stop thinking about your grades for just that time. General chem classes all around the country seem to just absolutely stomp students who’re only taking it because it’s a prerequisite and not because they want to go into the field/ are pre-med.

Reevaluate your working habits and playing habits. Try to find the balance where you’re not so stressed that you have a heartattack during the middle of the semester/quarter but can get work done and get decent amount of sleep everyday. Try extremely hard in all the classes you take next quarter and set your schedule so you’re only taking the classes you WANT to take. Don’t worry about prerequisite courses until you’ve established yourself as a true college student.

Looks like I don’t have to say anything. I’ve found the problem right here.

Lol I read this as “God destroyed…” and thought this was some serious Old Testament ****.
