I wished I hadn't taken Chem because it was the class that I put the most effort in and all I got for it was a 2.4 and I want to go into Economics now so Chem doesn't even fit a pre-req. At 1/3 way through the quarter my grades looked like:

I would have gotten higher in Math if I didn't take Chem but after the second midterm I dropped off the cliff after focusing so much on Chem that I did not have a chance to learn the new Calc material and bombed the Calc mid and did bad on the Calc final = 1.8.

I will have to retake Calc II in the spring because I am fulfilling other reqs.

Winter Quarter for me looks like:
English/Music(2 classes in 1, fulfills my Comp Req and an art class)
Intro to Microeconomics

So a MUCH easier quarter in the winter while still completing requirements.

Am I still ok? Is this a good plan? What now?

You did a good job raising that psych grade, I saw that 1.7 and my eyes about fell out of my head.

I don’t know much about your program but I think you’re okay. It’s one semester, you have a lot of time to raise your grade, and you took some tough courses. You’re going to retake calc which is important, and you’re taking an easier schedule now. This semester you need to work on polishing up your study skills and regaining your confidence-- I know a tough semester is a tough blow to take sometimes. In the future you will want to make sure that one hard class doesn’t destroy your grades in all your other classes, I think that’s something a lot of people have trouble with, but it’s better to do poorly in one class (especially a non-major class) and do really well in your other ones than to bomb them all, and if in the future if you can see this coming when you get your syllabi at the beginning of the year you might want to consider changing your schedule right away.

That’s something I had a really hard time with when I was trying to meet my foreign language requirement, and since I had the option I ended up taking all my foreign language by itself during the summer so it couldn’t interfere with my other courses.

if so, i had a very similar gpa to yours after my first quarter - basically made me give up math entirely and focus on other things, but if you’re confident in retaking calc and scoring higher then go for it. You really shouldn’t have a problem with that winter quarter schedule and with only one quarter in the books, you gpa will jump up.

however, if you’re intent on retaking calc, i’d do it right away winter quarter so you don’t forget anything before spring. comp english and micro are offered every quarter so don’t worry about missing out on the class if you don’t take it in winter.
