Got into CLA! Scholarships?

My son needed to call tech support to get his user ID to access the tracker as well. There seemed to be a weird glitch where he was thrown over to z.CLA after first activating his UMN account but before getting his my.UMN credentials. Tech support is open 24/7 so they were very helpful. But still it was pretty cumbersome compared to prior years. This was the first time we ran into difficulty trying to set up the Tracker.

We also got the numerous e-mails telling my son he needed to submit his test score (which was included on the SRAR!). I finally called just to straighten out with them what they have marked as “received”. They apologized sincerely and explained that the system crashed or something so some of the SRAR’s had to reload which slowed down when stuff could get marked as received. But they had his SRAR and re-assured me that the Tracker would be marked “complete” very soon. And that’s exactly what happened.

These sorts of system malfunctions are nothing new for UMN. SRAR is new this year so they might be having difficulty making sure their systems are completely compatible with that platform (other large state uni’s also use SRAR - UMN isn’t alone in this). The solution to the frustration and the waiting that families are experiencing is to just give them a call because you can always get through and they can always check to make sure they’ve received everything. They are super helpful!

@doughdough2135 @putinator My son received his packet last Friday 10/5, he was accepted in the tracker 9/30. There was no new information in the packet that we didn’t already know.

Our experience wirh timing has been this; accepted on the tracker to engineering 9/29 and the packet arrived in the mail about a week later. honors program notification on the tracker was a few days after that!

It took about 2 weeks for the academic record to show up as received on the tracker.

@MusakParent We kept hitting technical help in SRAR. They were helpful. Once it was in it took about 3-4 days until it showed up in Tracker.

Well, my kid contacted admissions after 10 days of no changes on the SRAR and tracker and something was broken because his SRAR was not connected to his app. They fixed it and said it should show up as resolved on the tracker in a couple business days.

Anyway - don’t be afraid to contact the tech help desk or admissions if your application seems stalled!

Ok - update from last post. Kid admitted to CLA as of this morning (with imminent message showing last night). About 1 week after tracker showed all info was in. We will wait and see about honors. He’s certainly in a good spot for that based on last years stats.

Also hopefully auditioning for school of music in jan/feb time frame. U of MN requires a pre-screen before you are invited to audition.

@JBStillFlying I hadn’t checked the tracker in awhile, and suddenly, “Congratulations! You have been admitted to the prestigious University Honors Program! Your Honors admission letter has been mailed.” appears on the bottom. So perhaps the Honors notifications are rolling out soon!

Congrats! Hopefully soon for my S19 . . .

My kid got admissions to CLA honors today too! One week after being accepted to CLA (ACT 34, GPA 4.0).

Still nothing on this end. But he’s only a 3.94 (uw) LOL. And he reported an SAT so maybe it takes them a few extra weeks to convert to an ACT score . . .

Hey @MusakParent and @Bmahoney13 does your Communication Center signal anything about honors as well?

@JBStillFlying the Communication Center didn’t change for honors! I did get an update there today but it was related to admissions to music (my kid will hopefully be auditioning for the school of music as well). It just changed in the tracker right away.

I bet the U is more ACT oriented, you may be onto something there! I reported an ACT when I went there back in the dark ages. Hope you get good news very soon!

Ok we’ll stop looking at the Comm. Ctr. then. They definitely get a lot more ACT’s than SAT’s. Good luck to your kid on his/her audition process, @MusakParent!

@JBStillFlying My comm. center actually did change for honors! “Admit University Honors Pgm” it said.

Oh interesting Bmahoney13! I just actually went back in and checked and my kid’s comm center and he still doesn’t have it in there even though the notification “Congratulations! You have been admitted to the prestigious University Honors Program! Your Honors admission letter has been mailed.” is loud and clear in the tracker and has been now for a couple days.

The comm center is a bit mysterious!

What is the communication center and how is it accessed?

@mntonkatwin It took us a bit to figure out how to find the comm center!

If you go to the page where you can access the tracker

https://admissions.tc.umn.edu/tracker/

Click the M in the upper left hand corner.

Then click “MyU: For students, faculty, and staff” in upper left

You can sign in using your tracker id/password

After you login, select “Key Links” and the “Student Center”

The Comm Center is on the far right of that page. You may need to scroll over or make your page bigger to select and open it.

Thank you, @MusakParent! I found it!
