I am about to visit the University of Indiana Bloomington on Friday. I recieved a scholarship of 7,000 per year and was wondering if there is any way to still recieve admission into the honors business program. also, when i visit what do you reccomend i do/see?? I have never been to the state and the freshmen forums were full. Finally, I have not applied for housing. Which dorms are the best in your opinion and how would you rank them. I suppose that most of my questions will be answered but I kinda want to scope out my possibilities and be prepared.

It's Indiana University, not U of Indiana. I don't know about the Honors Business program's admission, but i'm sure that you can apply after freshman year. When you visit, check out Kirkwood avenue, go to Steve and Barrys and get some IU merchandise, get something to eat there, check out the campus union, it's huge, go in the B-School, look around at the facility, and also walk through a trail in the woods, during the day. If you can at night, check out what's going on, I didn't get the chance to though. Then come back and tell us how amazing IU is. Oh, and if you get a chance, check out Assembly Hall and Memorial Stadium on your way out.

There's other threads on dorms, and a link to a student explaining the advantages and disadvantages to each one, i'll check for it later, need to get to 1st hour!

its called the mitte business honors program, very tough to get into as in incoming freshman and you have to be a direct admit into the bschool to even qualify and apply. After freshman year, if you have a 3.5 unweighted gpa you will be able to apply to the honors program and participate in it as long as you maintain a certain gpa.

From my understanding nobody goes into the mitte honors program as freshman - everybody as sophomores. As far as dorms goes, sorry buddy - whatever you request, you're not getting it. priority is given to those who submitted their housing contract first, and since you still haven't submitted it, you're gonna get stuck whatever still has space.

about 5-10 kids get picked as incoming direct admit freshman, thats what the assistant admissions director for the bschool said when she called me. she said all direct admit students who qualify are invited to apply for the mitte scholarship and thus admission in the mitte scholars program etc.

Only 5-10 students? Are you sure it's not 5-10 percent of business majors? Or maybe you're talking about Kelley Scholars?

naw im sure its not percentage, um kelley scholars also picks about 10 students as well heres the link:

but i did make a mistake, its not 5-10 students its more like 80ish

I know you asked about the honors program in the business school, but for those who are interested in the general honors program at Indiana University (called the Hutton Honors College), here's the info on admission to that program:
http://www.indiana.edu/~iubhonor/hds/admissions.php

After looking at the page i realized that i qualify for the Hutton Honors Program. I have a composite SAT score of 1370 but my high school does not rank. However, I did not get an invitation in. Is there still any hope???

Got into IU; Now What?

That's a stupid question, go party, get drunk with all your friends, and start slacking, then you can ultimately get rejected, and someone on the wait list can get in.

Now, now, I'm just kidding. Congratulations I believe would be in order, although the first thing I suggest you do is send in your housing, and pray to the almighty gods of IU-Bloomington, maybe, just maybe, then you'd get a dorm you actually want.
