just wondering how?

We can not answer your question without any info (grades, classes, gpa, etc).

im coming from stockton college (4 year school in NJ) with just a 3.17 GPA through 17 credits with 16 in progress.

i was originally accepted into rutgers from high school last year, but my acceptance was rescinded due to poor senior grades. i never got a chance to explain why they were so low (family issues), so I did in my essay. my gpa from high school went from a 94 GPA to a 90 GPA due to the grades. my class rank also fell considerably. They let me know that I could not attend two weeks before I was supposed to move in, so I was left scrambling for a college. I enrolled at Stockton.

some more information: i achieved a 1700/2400, 1170/1600 on the SATS

for the fall semester i took chemistry, pre-calculus, computers, and a logic class

So you are transferring as a sophomore. I think the reason you are having difficulty getting in to SAS is because of your high school grades. Though you are in college, first year, the first rejection from rutgers is a big disadvantage toward your second application.

your missing what im trying to say. SEBS is much more difficult to get into than SAS, and I got into SEBS and not SAS.

Both school are not that hard to get into. They both offer a wide variety of programs but, SEBS is considered easier to get into because fewer students is interested in the majors SEBS offers. With that stated, you were rejected from SAS because other applicants who are also transferring in to Rutgers probably had a better application.

both schools offer a lot of the same major, including mine which is biology. SAS has many more slots open than SEBS, ive heard like 5 times as more. then again, thats just but what i have heard. thanks for your response.

may i ask you, what were your senior grades? im a senior and im kinda nervous

absolutely attrocious, i got 3 borderline D’s and a 59 final grade (an F) for physics. although every single one of my classes were AP or honors, i completely slacked off and partied WAYY too much senior year and lived it up a little “too” much.

Supernamek4000, im in the same situation as u. except im comin in as a freshman. I got waitlisted from sas and admitted into sebs. Does anyone know when we find out if we are admitted off of the waiting list?

it could be anytime from now til anytime in the summer, but you’re supposed to make a decision may first otherwise you will lose classes you want or might be placed in unfavorable housing if you wait too long. for the sake of securing classes and the fact that my major is offered in both schools (biology), i opted to enroll at SEBS.

may 1st***********

SEBS and SAS are actually equally competitive since they are both big schools.
I think you got wait listed only because SAS has more applicants, take it as comfort knowing that if you got into SEBS you had the stats to get into SAS.

ok thanks! but i really want to be in the arts and sciences school. does anyone know how hard it is to transfer say my soph year?

according to JenniferRU, theyre equally competitive so if you were able to get into SEBS, you shouldnt have a problem transferring if you have a decent GPA, at least above a 3.0 im guessing.

I’m in my sophmore year, applied as a transfer, got accepted a few weeks ago.
You want to ideally have above a 3.3 gpa in college and you should be fine
Just apply early and speak to an admissions counselor.

SupernameK4000, please feel free to contact me at the Rutgers Office of Undergraduate Admissions: studentblogs@admissions.rutgers.edu. There’s a really good reason you’ve been waitlisted at the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) but not at SEBS-- based on what you’ve posted here. That is, this year successful transfer student to SAS typically have 24 or more credits at the time of review, whereas SEBS may accept transfer students with 12 or more credits at the time of review, provided they have taken courses that lead to their majors.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
