Got Water?

Tap water is the stuff from the faucets, right? Meaning if we're living in the dorms, the sink water is fine to drink???

Yes. The shower might be a different story.

You brush your teeth in the bathroom so the same water's already going in your mouth. Add a brita and I'm pretty sure it's fine to drink.

^^ Uhm.. By that logic, the water in the swimming pool should be fine to drink too..

^No, because the amount of water in the swimming pool is too much for the Brita filter to handle. The chlorine added to our tap water is regulated and comes in small enough amounts such that we don't have to worry about overintake of chlorine. Of course, if you want to eliminate the chlorine almost entirely, the folks at Brita claim that the activated carbon in the filters eliminate 99% of chlorine in TAP water.

Also, if you wanna dish out a little more money for a practically-lifetime solution, check out the SteriPen UV water purifier.

SteriPEN portable water purifier

^His logic is that the water already goes in your mouth, which automatically makes it safe to drink.

^So what does bathroom sink water going into your mouth have to do with swimming pool water going into your mouth? His point was BATHROOM water going into your mouth, not ANY water going into your mouth.

OK, so there's this difference between pool water and bathroom water where people can **** in the pool, but they can't in the sink.

I've read many times before that the city of Berkeley has some of the best-quality water, and supposedly is higher quality than bottled water.

I'm picky about my water, so I sampled it many times when I stayed there. It was always very fresh.

The water in Canada is very fresh, so if Berkeley compares, that would be very cool

here is an amazing filter... im going to but one for the fall, Amazon.com: PUR 2 Stage Water Dispenser #DS-1800Z: Home Improvement

That looks cool, and maybe, just maybe it might fit into a mini fridge...

lol fresh? it wasn't spoiled?:p and yeah canadian tap water is great. I usually drink straight from the sink

Also, people who drink only bottled water have a greater risk of tooth decay, cavities, etc. That is because majority of bottled water doesn't contain fluoride, which is added to tap water. That is why the british (no offense!) generally have worse teeth, they don't add fluoride (or didn't) to their water.

Also remember that Aquafina and Dasani are bottled at public water sources (i.e. Tap Water!) so you are only paying for the bottle, and added chemicals for taste. Aquafina is actually bottled in the Detroit river!
