Why is it so hard to raise your GPA and so easy to drop it?!?!?!

I worked my behind off and my GPA raised only .01 last semester, whoop dee do, and again, this semester seems like it will be the same. My grades are rolling in now, but I'm afraid the boost is again going to be minimal.

How much of a difference does .02 really make in a GPA? What constitutes a significant increase?

I'm just really exasperated right now... I wanted a 4.0 this semester as it will be my last chance to positively affect my GPA before applying to law school in the fall, but I guess it's not going to happen.

luckily the importance of GPA pales in comparison to the LSAT's importance

Because it's harder to get an A or an A+ than a B or a C?

Blame grade inflation for making 3.7+ GPAs a dime a dozen.

Looking at the average GPAs for the T14, a 3.70+ puts you in a pretty good position, even if it is not that uncommon at your partciular school. Although it may make HYS/Boalt a bit of challenge, you should be happy to be in such a position.

Yes, it's obnoxious to be in a position where an A- pulls down your GPA, but just keep in mind how many options remain open to you and don't fall victim to the cursed 'downward trend.'
