Hey there, I’m a freshman in community college planning to transfer to a if uc and I had a few questions. Would it be a bad idea to double major in philosophy and global studies ? I am very interested working in government or law. Would these two majors benefit me?
Please I need some help
Why would it be a bad idea? It’s not a bad idea at all.
Because I’m deciding whether it can hurt me or benefit me and also would just be better to major in poly sci?!
What are you wondering? Whether it’ll be more difficult to find a job with a global studies major than a political science major?
You can work in law with any major, so it doesn’t matter there.
And “working in government” is very nebulous, since the government hires people to do just about everything. There are doctors and lawyers, engineers and mathematicians, economists and social workers and psychologists and accountants and foresters and anthropologists and administrators and museum curators and lots and lots of other people that work for the government. What do you want to do for the government? If it’s something related to global studies you can probably do it with a global studies major, although it depends. Government jobs usually have really specific requirements, so doing a search on USAJOBS and looking at the requirements may be helpful for determining what coursework you need to get a job you like.
