Have you been accepted to HAAS before with a GPA≤3.7?
Also, what was your work/ internship experience like?
Further, were you a student with special circumstances like first generation or low income?
Your feedback is going to help me tremendously in making my decision!-UCB HAAS vs Econ.
If there is another thread I should be looking at, please let me know. Thanks :)

Just wondering, are 1st generation and low income even classified as special circumstances anymore? Because it seems that a lot of people fit into that category nowadays?

You have made about 10 threads regarding HAAS.

If you dont have a 3.8… don’t even apply.

If your EC’s are not spectacular dont even apply (this year will be extremely competitive)

If you have more than 1 pre-req left to complete in the spring… dont even apply.

First generation/low income does not matter THAT much if you are not in TAP.

Transfer2Best, you really know your stuff! Thanks for your help! :)

Haas doesn’t even recognize Berkeley TAP anyways so I doubt 1st gen low income even matters at all.

Good point.

I’m not sure if it was just me but I noticed that last year more Haas transfers got in than UCB Econ transfers

^ That is because alot of them disqualified due to their pre-reqs. This year, the pre-reqs for HAAS are out the window, so it is much harder.

You don’t need a minimum 3.8 to apply. I got in with a 3.7 as a transfer. Good luck.

Ashley, really?? Were you in their TAP or did you have amazing ECs?

No TAP. Little extra-curriculars (basically joined the fall semester of the application just to have something to put on my application - nothing important/leadership related at all ;]). I did have two years of work experience in a real estate firm which ended up being the core of my application. The personal statements are key - make every word count. I think my statements are what got me in. I was very proud of them Feel free to shoot me an email at ashley_mello*********** if you have any other questions.

Hey Ashley, I’m also a prospective Haas transfer and I have several questions just to gauge what Haas is looking for. I’ll just list them for simplicity:

Did you take any Haas prerequisites in the spring semester before you transferred?

Did you have any Bs, Cs, or Ws on your transcript?

Did you have any Bs in your prerequisites?

Did you take any honors courses? About how many units, on average, did you take each semester?

How exactly did you elaborate on your work experience in your personal statement? (I’m in a similar situation in that my work experience is probably the strongest aspect of my application)

Thanks in advance!

Ashley - I know I’d really appreciate any extra information. Anything you can speak on as far as the other transfer students and their EC and work experience?

I’m seriously lacking in EC and work experience and I’d love to hear anything that might help me gauge what kind of level got people through.
