Gpa>4.0?

Is it possible for people in the US to get GPAs higher than 4.0?
At my school, A+'s count as a 4.3, and the APs and higher level IBs have a bump of 0.5. Basically, if you get straight A+s in APs, you could wind up with a 4.8..
And I've discovered there are difference scales for GPAs..

bump..............

Yes, if it's weighted.

yea , boi...

Yes - my school also has 4.3 for an A+.

at my school, it is a 4.0 for any a 93-100. we only have 5.5 weighted credits out of the 28 i will be taking (i will be taking everything weighted) which only count as a 4.5 gpa instead of the 5 that a lot of schools have. i don't know whether guidance counselors make clear the type of gpa system used when reporting to prospective schools, but i sure hope so. otherwise, my 4.027 looks rather low compared to other students i'm competing against, who may have a 4.6 or higher because they almost every class they take weighted because of "honors" classes, which are often the same class but count as a 5 instead of a 4.
