<p>how much do colleges care about GPA (im talking about like competitive colelges like HYPSM and stuff)</p>

<p>for example, will they make a real distinction between a 3.90/3.95/4.00 GPA?</p>

<p>also, i slacked off a little bit beginning sophomore year and also wanst used to taking harder AP classes so i got a couple of B+ and A-. However, second semester, i manage to get mostly As.</p>

<p>Will that first semester of sophomore year haunt me or will they look at it as I improved throughout the year? for example, i got B+ in AP euro first semester and A second semester in same class...(and 5 on test)</p>

<p>do top colleges care about a few B+s/A-s</p>

<p>You are not doomed by a 3.9, keep challenging yourself with APs and ECs, you will be fine.</p>

<p>They are not going to care if you have a 3.9 instead of a 4.0. It helps to show you are human :)</p>
