Stressed about GPA!

So, I'm a junior at the moment and am a little stressed about my final cumulative GPA. I had a bad freshmen year... GPA around a 3.195, and in my sophomore year I semi-cared, and had a 3.792 , averaging at 3.494 cumulative, after this first term of grades coming in, I got all A's(caring this year), and it rose my GPA about .6 of a point.

Calculating my GPA including weights at the end of this junior year.. assuming I got all A's in 5 AP classes I'd have about a 3.739 weighted. Alot of my class are slackers (about 600 of us) and don't really care about school, and take basket weaving and PE to keep their GPA up, while I work my *** off from a ****tty freshmen and decent sophomore year to bring mine to only be competing with them.

Do you think colleges will realize this if I hypothetically never drop below an A (no A+'s at my school) for my Junior and first term Senior year, after getting a couple B's and 1 C freshmen year, and one B and a couple A-'s sophomore year? Assuming all went well, at the end of first term senior year (October 14th), i'd have a GPA that would be sent to all colleges: 3.772 weighted.

I don't know if this is enough to get me under the top 10% of my class, as of right now I have a 3.55 and am about 150/570(26%), I know alot of my class are slacking off, and I was just wondering if it is too late for me to dream? (Stanford :)), who i know will take out my GPA for freshmen year, but.. I'm still worried about my class rank

Assuming everything else is good (applying to TASP, taking AMC12[qualified to AIME last year], good recs and essays, good test scores [2200 SAT as of now], good AP test results) do I still have a chance at some of the best schools in the nation? Thanks, CC

I think colleges will like it. It shows that you cared and challenged yourself. I don't know if you could get into the BEST colleges in the nation, but I think you will look interesting in the eyes of colleges.

Besides you won't look like another boring 4.0 UW applicant.

I'm not interested in HYP, only Columbia UPenn(ignore freshmen year?) Stanford(ignore freshmen year?) Duke Emory and Georgetown

I'm not really good at chancing, but you have a good SAT score, so I don't think any of those schools are far out of reach.

lol, I'm not looking for chances, I am just wondering if that GPA and maybe a 2300+ SAT(taking in dec.) and everything else will make those schools not necessarily a dream. :)

Wow! I had the same problem. I'm a junior as well.
Freshman year I had 3.00 and 3.193 gpa's. It's not that I didn't care it's just the stupidity of a teenager who never thought about the countless numbers of kids with gpa's higher than that. I then got very mad at myself sophmore year and had 3.66, 3.76, 3.96 and 3.96 gpa's. I raised my cum. gpa to 3.43. I am doing anything possible to make up for my freshman year. Good luck to you PT1429 and may you get in to your dream college.
