GPA Confusion

Hi, I am a sophomore in high school towards the end of my first semester. I have MANY questions about my GPA and what truly matters, and what I can do to fix it. First, the facts.
Freshman Year
3.92 Weighted (3 Honors Classes)
3.51 Unweighted (I believe)
Sophomore Year (First MP)
4.18 Weighted GPA (4 Honors Classes)
3.75 Unweighted GPA (I believe)
As Of Now
3.97 Cumulative Weighted
3.92 Official Weighted
I do not have an unweighted for cumulative or official
I am very disappointed in my current GPA, as my freshman year blunders brought me down, sadly I did not care at all, which still hurts. I would love to know what colleges look at more, if my weighted GPA even matters (should I just drop APs and Honors?), as well as what I can do to bring it up (do I have enough time, can I?). I would love to go to a prestigious university (UT Austin, U of Miami, UNC Chapel Hill, U of Michigan) as I know that I am intelligent enough, but am still livid that my lax attitude of freshman hear has hurt me. Please Help!
Thank You!

Your weighted GPA, as calculated by your school does not matter to colleges, since there is no standard. Many colleges apply their own weighting, our just use unweighted. However, all top colleges value rigor, which the AP and honors courses give. So no, you should not drop APs and honors.

Colleges will all value an upward trend, even if they do consider freshman grades.

More to the point, can your family afford the out of state tuition to any of the public flagships?

First, check the NPC of each school on your dream list to see if they are affordable. There is no point to apply if you cannot afford it. For UMich, you can recalculate your uwGPA from all classes without subgrades. A=4, B=3, C=2, etc and average all of them.
