GPA difference in Canada and US

Hey. I'm sure that there are other posts on this subject: however, a cursory search revealed nothing. I was wondering about the difference between GPAs in Canada and the US.

For example, does an 80% in a Canadian school translates to a 3.0 in the States (I'm not positive on this; I'm just making up numbers) and a 90% in Canadian schools=3.9? (Again, just making up numbers)

So in short, what does a Canadian percentage translate into in GPA?

Hope that I explained my question properly.

Thanks.

Did you try Google?

85 % = A

depends on ur school really check the GPA equivalant in the canadian school website

nomad was a bit quicker than me...
to be overly critical, in Ontario, an 86% = A-

well

i think 86%= A
85%=B

thats what it is in BC

Actually each Canadian School sets their own standards for GPA so a 85% might be an A at one school while a B+ at another

Thanks very much for all your help.

At my school an 86= solid A.
though I'm also worried about what a "Canadian 86" would be translated into by US colleges.

I'm wondering the same as Jimmy@Killarney-- most of my grades are low 90s/high-mid 80s

You are fine, most schools in Canada send the grades giod e( what % = what grade) with your transcript
