gpa downward trend

I seem to be having a problem with the trend my gpa has taken.
Freshmen year, 3.8
Sophomore- 3.3
Junior, 3.15
I’m almost done with my junior year.
25 on the act, looking to go to a state university in Michigan?

So how Bad is this trend? Will my act score help? Thanks!!!

Freshmen year gpa was actually a 3.667, sorry!

It’s not horrendous. But depending on the school, it may hurt you pretty badly. Try to maintain a 3.5 for the rest of this semester. That’s entirely doable. If you aren’t from Michigan, that would also make it pretty difficult to get in.

Colleges worry that a downward trend shows you might have trouble with college courses, because as the level of difficulty has risen, your grades have dropped. Why have they dropped so much? Fix it, and ace the rest of the way.

Thanks guys! I’m a resident in Michigan looking at mostly public state universities.

Someone is going to want you; don’t worry about that. You shouldn’t have any problem getting into the directional schools like Western Michigan or someplace like Wayne State. If you are aiming a bit higher for something like Michigan State, a nice turnaround in your grade trend or improved ACT scores will give you a better chance.

Thank you so much! This is an answer I was looking for. I’m looking at western and wayne actually so this could be good news! I just don’t have a ton of time before junior year ends so I’m worried about being able to turn everything around.

CMU, GVSU, EMU, Oakland, UM Flint, UM Dearborn, Ferris – is there a particular part of the state you’d prefer? Your own HS guid counselor can direct you to where others of similar achievement level have found success. Good luck

Anywhere really. Looking for places with dietetic programs, such as Wayne, Western, and Eastern.
Do you think I’ll be okay even with my downward trend? I volunteer and do ecs as well.

Don’t go to Eastern. Don’t. Please don’t.

Oakland U and GVSU are both “up-and-coming” type state schools in Michigan that I know you’ll be accepted to with your stats. I feel like I’ve heard some good things about a dietetic program at OU but I can’t quite recall what was said if anything. I wouldn’t bother applying to UMich, but maybe apply to MSU as your goal school if you’re only looking a big public schools!

Oakland doesn’t have a dietetics program. What do you think of Wayne, does it look like a good fit for me based on my grades? Or Western?
Wait what’s wrong with emu
