GPA DROPPED TO A 3.289! HELP

I’m panicking badly! My GPA was a 3.344 during my junior year, but I got all B’s this year (I had mostly Honors classes) and it dropped! Badly! If I bring it up before the end of the first senior semester (I am taking 3 AP classes), can I send that GPA to my college (college deadlines are usually in January)?

I got a 26 on the ACT, which I heard was good. But I’m scared, and I haven’t participated in any extracurriculars… I messed up.

Is there any hope?

You can get into a college with those numbers.

It depends. What state do you reside in and what schools do you plan to apply to?

Which schools are you looking for?
Also you can bring up your ACT score.

Well, I live in Georgia. I was hoping that maybe when I retake the ACT, I’d get a really high score and many colleges they could overlook my mediocre gpa and lack of school extracurriculars (I do a bit of activities outside of school)

Make a list of the schools that you will like to go, then look the requirements of them. The schools that use holistic admission look more than just grades. Good luck!

Your lack of extracurriculars won’t unhinge your chances. Your activities outside of school should be enough

ECs will matter only for very selective schools – none of which should be on your target list. Focus on killing your first semester Senior year grades (they will count for January applications) and as 1/7th of your record, can really help you out. Don’t focus on ECs, focus on your ACT retake and popping a 3.5 or better next semester. This summer, start assembling a list of viable colleges, talk w/your parents about what they can afford, prep for an ACT re-take. Good luck

Why are you panicking? Lots of B students get into college, do well and have successful lives and careers. Your GPA and test score may preclude admission to particular schools - but that’s true of everyone. What exactly is the issue?

Getting your ACT higher would help a lot. A friend of my S had a GPA below 3 but an ACT of 34 and almost no EC’s. He will be attending the University of Miami in the fall.
