GPA evaluations

I cannot find any concrete information regarding how the UC's, particularly Cal and Berkeley, evaluate GPA. Even the counselors at my college tell me different things (i have found them to be pretty unreliable). Do the UC's look at cumulative AND UC GPA, or just UC? Do non-transferable courses factor into GPA as cumulative GPA? How about remedial courses such as elementary/intermediate algebra?

depending on how they will view my GPA, I may be applying with a 3.7 (cumulative + remedial coursework), 3.74 (UC transferable coursework only), or 3.81 (UC only, and if i decide to retake a failed guitar class this fall).

I repeated myself. I meant Cal and UCLA.

I believe it should be all UC-transferable coursework. Elementary/Intermediate Algebra shouldn’t be UC transferable, nor should any other remedial work.

UCLA takes a look at your major GPA on top of your transfer GPA.

If it makes you feel any better, my cumulative GPA for CCC was 3.60, UC transfer GPA was 3.73, and UC GPA since fall 2011 was 3.96.

Four counselors told me different things pertaining to UC’s and Berkeley in specific

All UC’s only consider UC transferable courses for GPA evals

Cal and UCLA look at cumulative and UC GPA due to their competitiveness

All UC’s looks at both UC and Cumulative GPA

Non-UC Transferrable coursework is not calculated by any UC for undergraduate studies.

Full cumulative GPA is looked at by all UC’s for Graduate studies (law school, med school, etc)

They look mainly at tranaferabe and major GPA. Major GPA is important.

–

does it matter how many units you have accumulated? I will have over 100 units when I apply. i attend a CC

They’d only care if you went to a university. If not, the number of units you’ve completed wouldn’t matter whatsoever.
