GPA for an Ivy

My projected GPA is around a 3.5ish, maybe higher. However, I go to one of the top schools in the nation where nobody has ever gotten a 4.0 (we don't do class ranks). my sophomore and freshman years were unremarkable: I had a few B's and even one B- (whine). However, I think it's likely that this (junior) year I might get straight A's.

i mean, i know there are several other factors, but GPA is probably super important, no?

My objective isn't to boast or anything; i'd just like to know whether I am a viable candidate, and if not, whether there's something I can do.

Colleges will know that your school is competitive. Also, I believe that schools that don't release rank provide deciles -- do you think that you're in the top 10%? If so, then you're definitely fine.

if your gpa is in the top 10% of a competetive school (like 1-2 go to ivies, 25 go to top UCs, 98%graduate rate), it doesn't matter if you have a low unweighted GPA?

Your high school counselor should have the best information about this question.

what makes a high school "competitive" in the eyes of college admissions officers?

"One of the top schools in the nation where nobody has ever gotten a 4.0" covers that.

Top 100 public HS GPA 3ish on 4 UW have routinely made it to the
top colleges to my knowledge in the last 3 years. The GPA by itself does not
mean anything outside the context of the courses you got hit in and the
relative course load of others at your school. Also the year you took the hit is
significant.
