I'm a junior and African American Instate. My GPA is a 3.714 uw 4.21w cummalitive and i have pretty good EC's...school doesn't rank...and lets say i got like a 2000 on my SAT thanks!

...All honors and AP classes also..(some classes only offer honors and not AP)

OOPS..i definitely meant out of state

I read that the average HS GPA for incoming freshman is around 3.93, and that was for 2 years ago, so you're a bit low. And a 2000 SAT is also on the low side. I mean, it very well might be good enough... but don't count on anything. Don't let that stop you from applying though, there's a lot more to an application than numbers.

The instate/african american is certainly a nice boost. I wouldn't count on anything, but you certainly aren't out of the running.

Duke is competitive, and there is an alumni article that discusses the "average" applicant at Duke. Average is how you interperet it, so bear with me. Still, you might have a chance.

It pays to be optimistic.

candyman, Duke will be a reach for you but it is in range; your numbers won't keep you out.

aycaramba, I highly doubt that the avg gpa is a 3.93 - at least unweighted.

danielh, do you have a link to that article?
