I was filling out my USC application and they asked for a general "unweighted GPA". So I just took out all the weight of AP classes and got 3.92, but I think if I took out Health (which I got a B in), it'd be about 3.95. Furthermore, USC asks for a list of courses I've taken and says to include only college prep classes, so what should I do when I'm calculating the unweighted GPA?

First of all, your school will calculate your GPA for you on the transcript they send to the schools you apply to. Any given college may calculate your GPA AGAIN according to their own system.

All non-academic classes, ie health/pe/etc, are not counted as part of your GPA.

There are different GPAs which include different courses and different weighting systems. My school keeps track of 7 different GPAs, or so I'm told.

My transcript lists Health as academic but not college prep. I don't know if there's any variance. It's probably safe to assume the same categorization, but I'd check with a school counselor to be sure.

My GPA summary shows only the cumulative weighted GPA with all classes counted (including PE and Health).

Bump?.....

The college will still recalculate your GPA using their own methods.

--

Would it be a red flag if you fail Gym or Health? Or would it not even be considered?

I know what the OP is talking about; I have the same exact question.

My school lists "Computer Repair," "Technology Problem Solving," and "Technology Staff" as college prep classes..but they aren't really "college prep" to me even though my school says so. I got easy A's in all of them...should I include these when calculating my GPA?

what about art classes?

I hope art is counted, my art teacher was a **** and my art grade is my lowest grade in my transcript.

^Nope. Art is not counted.

Art is one of the a-g for UC requirement. You should list everything, let the school calculate them. This is self-reporting, they have the transcript to verify later on.

So nothing would happen if you fail, for example, Gym?

damn! art doesn't count? I got a 99 junior year for art

what about advisory? please tell me it counts! I always get a 100 && that boost my average up
