GPA is mediocre, ACT is High, What should i do?

So I used to be really lazy in high school. I only had two honors for freshmen year. However, after the first marking period of my sophomore year in HS (i had 3 honors then), I had a change of heart and studied hard. I got good grades and had a good trend of improvement for (3 APs + 2 Honors Junior year and im planning for 5 APs Senior year :)>- ) I had an EXCELLENT score on the ACT (35). However, my grades from freshmen and the beginning of sophomore year are haunting me again since my GPA is not on par with most colleges that I really want to go to.

My extracurriculars i think are okay (though im not like a state champion or a miracle worker or anything like that, not an athlete either)

What should i do?

Without offering specifics with regards to your GPA, it’ll be difficult for anyone to assess what you should do.

Per your posting history you claim to have a 3.8 UW GPA. If that is true you need to cut the drama. Your 2100 SAT is hat may keep you out of the Ivies.

@TomSrOfBoston He just said he got a 35 so test scores aren’t really a problem

But if you do have a 3.8, cut the drama. There’s nothing that the top schools hate more than students obsessing over a B on their app.

Agree that a UW 3.8 and a 35 ACT are not “omg will i get into any good colleges” - thread worthy.

Schools like to see an upward trend; and many don’t pay a whole lot of attention to freshman year grades. Stay on course academically, do your ECs and write a compelling essay and you WILL get into very good schools. Good luck.
