GPA more significant than SAT scores?

i dont know if there is any validity to this but for some reason it seems as though students with higher GPA's and lower sat scores were accepted more frequently than students with higher SAT scores and lower gpa's

Is there something to this or did i just happen to see a trend with a few students?

I only ask because i want to go to UCSD but my SAT score is only 1900 cr(680) M(570) w(650), but i have a pretty high UC gpa- i think its 4.208 or 4.1666 or something around there. and based on what i understood from the criteria they look at i have some good qualities, EX. Editor in Chief of school paper, played a sport, will be ELC, exc.

UCSD does admissions with a point system. If you have enough 'points' (i think it is 7500?) you are admitted. They give you certain amount of points for sports, EC's, jobs, family hardships, etc...

I haven't looked at it myself, but you can probably see what is worth what somewhere.

Here is a breakdown of the point system that is very similar to what they use now: http://www.geocities.com/kisasong/UCSDComprehensive.htm.

alright nice. thanks so much for the help.

in general gpa is more important than sat
